Cohiba royal is flavorful cigar from Cohiba. The royal name hints at its royal flavors. The core flavors of this Gran Royal cigar and Cohiba Spectre are cedar leather, spicy beans, and pepper. Mixed all of these flavors got an impressive 91 rating.
Brand and Production
Cohiba brand makes this medium-strength cigar. They produced this Gran Royal cigar at HATSA factory in Danli, Honduras.
Design
Cohiba Royale is a Robusto shape 4.5inch by 52ring gauge torpedo stick. Appearance is very much royalist. The dark brown and oily appearance makes it more attractive. The end cap seems blended into the cigar body. Also, the cigar box and band on the body keep their luxury vibes.
Build Quality
Build quality is on the top-notch. The surface is solid, but some bumpiness is visible there, which is usual for a cigar. Cigars body covers with Dominican Piloto Cubano binder, which is almost 5-6 years aged, and the fillers are from Honduras and Nicaragua.
Wrapping
The wrapper is from Nicaragua. It’s a rare wrapper in the cigar world, appears in impressive dark brown color, invisible veins nicely.
Flavor
The pre-light smell feels really nice, like spice and creamy aroma. Smoking till the end multiple flavors coming very nicely in medium plus profile.
Beginning Portion
Very nice strong cedar leather and earth comes, seems that it is the main profile of the first third. As smoke continued, we got some medium spicy beans and mixed white and black pepper flavor coming specifically.
Middle Portion
Some flavor shifted and added at this point. Feel little sweetness at some points. Mixed white and black pepper spices are still coming specifically. Cedar leather and the earthy flavor got mild to maintain a medium-plus profile.
Bottom Portion
Cedar leather flavor is still there very consistent. Earth and black pepper mix here and provide something like coffee bean flavor, which we think it maintains the smoke flow very well.
Burn
Cohiba Royale burns really nicely. We need only one touchup at the last third, that fears. Ash was coming solidly. Smoke output was also good.
Summery
We didn’t find any real harshness; it was very much smooth from beginning to bottom. Binder and the wrapper quality were great. All ingredients are composed well and filled perfectly to build a solid cigar.
