The Reckoning By Oliva is a full-bodied strength cigar. It is packed with rich and balanced ingredients. The core flavors of this cigar are leather, cedar, pepper, chocolate, and coffee. It used to be a limited-edition cigar but then released widely. This cigar scores 92+ points in almost every sector.
Brand and Production
Oliva Brand made this reckoning Robusto cigar. They made this cigar in Estelí, Nicaragua, at the Tabolisa I factory.
Design
The Reckoning Robusto-shaped cigar comes in a 6inch by 52ring gauge stick. The body appears in dark chocolate, and also it is oily. We have seen textures on it, but those are shadowy. The black band looks great on the body.
Build quality
Oliva used Nicaraguan filler and binder in this cigar. Nicaraguan Ligeros long leaf blend packed and hand-rolled perfectly to provide rich and balanced flavors.
Wrapping
They used Ecuadoran sun-grown Habano wrapper in this cigar. It is deep, dark, and oily. The end cap seems blended with the body, and it is well shielded. The wrapper covered all the ingredients perfectly and seemed solid.
Taste
The wrapper smells chocolaty and woody. Cold smoke was great; it was not much tight and loose.
Beginning portion
We got a huge amount of pepper on the first draw. It was likely white pepper. It was the main flavor here. A sweet chocolate aroma was also appearing in the background to provide a perfect first third finish.
Middle portion
Pepper is still there through this portion. Cedar and mild leather join with the pepper. We feel the sweetness and spice at the same time—all mixed nicely through the whole smoke. Also, the sweet and chocolaty aroma was still there in the background.
Bottom portion
Sweet cedar and leather were coming here nicely. They both became strong, and pepper got mild here. Also, coffee notes were appearing all around, and they refreshed the background. No flavors get bold too much, appearing on the medium-plus profile till the end.
Burn
The burn was great. It was razor sharped. We didn't need any touchups. The draw was coming nicely. Ash was also straight and solid.
Summary
Though this cigar was the side project of Oliva, it came with great results. Ingredients to construction, construction to burn were excellent, and the smoke time and smoke output were great. Nothing we got to complain about, and it is perfect for any cigar lover.
